The Higher Education Service Group Executive has agreed to call off a planned ballot for industrial action, following the vote which saw 52% of members accept the proposals from Universities UK in an above average turnout.
Over 1300 USS members at universities across the UK were consulted over and narrowly voted to accept employers’ proposals to end a dispute over changes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme pension scheme.

The branch consultation was conducted on a tight timescale over the Easter break. The result was close, with 52% voting to ACCEPT the UUK offer and 48% voting to REJECT the UUK offer.
On 13 April 2018 UCU announced its members had accepted the UUK proposal and suspended strike action.
